The crowd's anticipation to see Lionel Messi in action turned into frustration when the Argentine superstar remained on the bench due to a hamstring issue.

The excitement for Inter Miami's appearance in the Far East reached fever pitch with tickets selling out in record time, only for fans to learn that Messi would not be playing. 

Despite the team securing a 4-1 victory, the chants of "We want Messi" highlighted the crowd's disappointment as reported by The Sun.

 Not even the presence of soccer legends Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba could appease the fans, who were especially disgruntled after being informed there would be no refunds.

In an attempt to smooth over the situation, David Beckham took to the pitch post-match to express his gratitude and promise a return visit. However, his words were largely overshadowed by the crowd's dissatisfaction. 

Fans had hoped to witness Messi's brilliance firsthand, with some even travelling great distances for the occasion. The sentiment was clear: they came for more than just a glimpse of their idol on the sidelines.

"I have always loved Hong Kong and we look forward to coming back one day to entertain you even more," Beckham stated, emphasizing the impact of showcasing great players to inspire the youth. 

Despite his efforts, the sentiment of fans like the one who had been waiting nearly a decade to see Messi play was unmistakable. "We are very disappointed," they shared, underscoring the high expectations and subsequent letdown experienced by many.
