Manchester City have officially handed Jamaican superstar Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw the club’s iconic No.9 shirt, a number famously worn by Erling Haaland in the men’s team, ahead of the 2025–26 Women’s Super League season.
The move solidifies Shaw’s status as the undisputed attacking powerhouse of City Women. Since joining from Bordeaux in 2021, she has worn the No.21 jersey, but her explosive goal-scoring form has now earned her a shirt number traditionally reserved for elite strikers.
Shaw has scored 91 goals in just 106 appearances for Manchester City Women, claiming back-to-back WSL Golden Boots and rewriting the club’s record books.
In the 2022–23 season, she bagged an incredible 31 goals in 30 matches, the highest ever in a single campaign for City.
Her new shirt number adds to the symbolic recognition of her growing influence in the squad.
She now joins a distinguished list of City Women No.9s, including Toni Duggan, Pauline Bremer, and Chloe Kelly, each of whom made their mark in City blue.
Meanwhile, in another key squad update, Vivianne Miedema has been assigned the No.10 shirt for the upcoming season, a number previously worn by injured midfielder Jill Roord.
Miedema, who arrived from Arsenal last year, previously wore No.6 and netted 11 goals in 19 games during her debut season.
