Final Western Batball edition to champion personal Hygiene campaign
After four editions of the Batball Uganda cricket open, the competition is set to wrap up with the Western edition.
While addressing the media at a press briefing on Wednesday at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, Batball CEO Martin Ondeko stressed that the programme had achieved its core aim of having as many young cricket players participate.
“The western Batball open edition will be the last this year, but it’s been a good journey. Our target was to have over 300 young players compete, and we achieved it,” Ondeku noted.
“We believe it will go a long way in preparing the boys for a good future in cricket.”
The open, scheduled to take place at the Serenity Oval in Kamengo, has attracted four teams, named after the common birds in the Western region, with the edition centring on keeping personal hygiene theme.
“Batball always intends to create a social impact in all the editions played, and the final one will have the keeping personal hygiene theme because we want communities also to be impacted,” Ondeku added.
The two-day open will run between the 7th and 8th of April 2023 and will see four teams competing; they include Kanyonza, Oruyongoyongo, Enthuuha and Enyawawa.
The previous editions have seen Ejibat win the Eastern edition, Buutu win the Nile edition, while Agak and Akasumagizi won the North and Central editions, respectively.
