The Flying Eagles of Nigeria came into the game after a 1-1 draw against Ghana and a 4-1 demolition of Benin Republic in the group phase

Flying Eagles failed to get their 8th AFCON win.

During the first half, the Flying Eagles made three attempts that missed the target, whereas their opponents did not manage to direct any shots towards the Nigerian goal.

During the second half, the Cup holders intensified their offensive endeavors but were unable to get the breakthrough.

Heartbreak for the Flying Eagles.

As the match ended without any goals after the regular time, a penalty shootout commenced.

In the shootout, though, the Flying Eagles demonstrated resilience converting four of their penalties successfully, while Niger Republic managed to score just two.

This result means that the Flying Eagles have reached the competition's Final, where they will face the victor of the second semi-final between Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire.
