Former Harambee Stars Coach Reveals 2 Factors Behind Mohammed Bajaber Leaving for Simba SC
Former Harambee Stars coach Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee has given two reasons behind Mohammed Bajaber’s decision to ditch Harambee Stars’ CHAN 2024 squad and sign with Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
In an interview with Habari 254tv, Mulee acknowledged that without Mohammed Bajaber in the camp, a few things would change, but Harambee Stars have to move on and make a mark in their CHAN 2024 campaign.
Mohammed Bajaber, who was nursing an injury while at the Harambee Stars camp ahead of CHAN 2024, signed with Simba SC and was unveiled a few days ago, just before the tournament kicked off on August 2 in Tanzania.

Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee: Why Mohammed Bajaber Left Harambee Stars for Simba SC
Mulee revealed that, considering the fact that Mohammed Bajaber was injured, there was not much impact he could have made on Harambee Stars. The former Harambee Stars coach noted that due to that, Benni McCarthy opted to release him.
According to Mulee, it was a strategic move since if he had opted to stay in the camp and not play for Harambee Stars in the CHAN tournament, his value would have declined.
“Mohammed Bajaber being out of the squad will affect Harambee Stars for sure, but we always say no one is indispensable because you can’t always rely on one player,” Ghost Mulee said.
“There are reports that he was not fully fit and therefore could not even benefit Harambee Stars in any way because when Kenya Police FC was winning the league, he was not playing.
“I understand that Benni allowed him to leave since he would not have played in CHAN either way. I want him to get well soon and get into the rhythm as soon as possible.”
Mulee further noted that it is every player’s dream to get better opportunities, and Mohammed Bajaber’s move to Simba SC comes with a lot of financial benefits.
Mohammed Bajaber reportedly signed a two-year deal with Simba SC, with Kenya Police FC reportedly milking Ksh12.9m ($100,000) in fees.
“I think every player has a certain level of zeal, and he might have seen that going to Simba SC would be a great deal, and maybe he was looking at the monetary value too,” Mulee added.
“If he is going to Simba, that’s great, and he is earning a good amount of money, and if Kenya Police FC have agreed to that, then why not? I know he will even play in the Europa League in the future.”
Mohammed Bajaber has since linked up with the rest of the Simba SC squad in Egypt ahead of their pre-season camp.
