Antony was given a rare start by manager Ruben Amorim in the League Cup quarter-final at Tottenham.

However, the Brazilian winger failed to make an impact and was substituted with Spurs leading 3-0.

While United mounted a late comeback, the game ultimately ended 4-3 in Tottenham's favour.

What Deeney said

"As soon as Manchester United took Antony off, everybody else started running," Deeney observed.

He went on to deliver a harsh verdict on the player's future at the club.

"They've got to cut ties with him. I don't want to make him the scapegoat but, honestly, watching him is so frustrating. This is your big moment. He doesn't run, he doesn't sprint, just get him out," Deeney insisted.

He continued, "If you're getting rid of Marcus Rashford, whoever is taking him, we'll pay you to take him [Antony] as well. Get him out the club"

Deeney's comments paint a damning picture of Antony's contributions to Manchester United, suggesting that his presence on the pitch is detrimental to the team's performance.
