‘Get him out of professional football’ — Demoted ex-Premier League official in trouble again after error in Championship game
Former Premier League official Anthony Taylor has returned to the news for the wrong reasons once again, after a perceived error during the Championship match between Preston North End and Coventry.
Ex-Premier League referee makes shocking error
Taylor came under scrutiny recently after a shocking penalty call during the Premier League game between Wolves and Newcastle, where he awarded the visitors a game-changing spot-kick that received serious backlash.
As a result of the backlash from the decision against Wolves and other errors committed by Taylor, he was demoted temporarily to the Championship, with hopes that he would be able to perform better under less-intense scrutiny.
However, Taylor appears to have continued his error-laden ways after making yet another dodgy penalty call, gifting Preston a crucial spot-kick against Coventry.
Fans call for Taylor’s job
A video of the penalty incident hit social media platform X after the match, and fans who recognised the scanty-haired official quickly came down hard on him for the apparent mistake.
Fans noted that they were unsurprised by Taylor’s refereeing, while others called for him to retire from refereeing or be sacked for incompetence.

Preston went on to win the match 3-2 after the penalty incident, while Coventry dropped to 16th place after what they will believe was an injustice against them.
