Giannis to stay with Milwaukee Bucks after signing his brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo
Thanasis Antetokounmpo has officially re-signed with the Milwaukee Bucks on a guaranteed one-year, $2.9 million deal to return to the team.
The move means that that Thanasis reunites with his superstar brother, Giannis Antetokounmpo to fuel their championship aspirations for the 2025-26 season.
Thanasis Antetokounmpo returns to Bucks
Thanasis, who played for the Bucks from 2019-24, missed the entire 2024-25 season due to a torn Achilles tendon but has been cleared to return to the court.
The 33-year-old forward underwent surgery in May 2024 and went through a rehabilitation process.
He was able to join his brothers Giannis and Kostas to represent Greece at the ongoing 2025 EuroBasket.

Thanasis brings more than just on-court contributions despite his modest stats—career averages of 2.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 7.7 minutes.
His return to Milwaukee comes after a hiatus from the Bucks’ roster following the 2023-24 season, where he saw limited action, averaging less than a point per game in 34 appearances.
The re-signing bolsters team chemistry and retain helps retains Giannis, whose future with the Bucks had been a topic of intense speculation.
This also means after a summer of exploring options, Giannis is staying in Milwaukee to start the season quelling trade rumors linking him to teams like the Golden State Warriors.
Thanasis, a key member of the Bucks’ 2021 NBA championship team, is celebrated for his veteran energy and enthusiasm and will return to a familiar role with the team.
