‘Gigantic alien of football is back’ - Oliseh picks France as Euro 2024 favourite after watching Kante

Kante left Chelsea and moved to Saudi Arabia in 2023, and has since then gone under the radar in Europe. 

However, he returned to the football competition with a spectacular performance on Monday against Austria.

Kante played alongside Adrien Rabiot of Juventus in midfield and was instrumental in helping France secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Austria.

Kante’s performance has been hailed by Super Eagles legend Oliseh, who believes the midfielder is crucial to the French team 

He called Kante a "gigantic alien" and asserted that France was the favourite to win the competition because of his presence.

Oliseh thinks Kante is the most important player for France, even though Kylian Mbappe made a significant contribution to the close win. 

Oliseh posted a tweet on X, saying, “The ‘Gigantic Alien of  Football’ is back! It was a pleasure to watch one of my favourite defensive midfielders, N’Golo Kante, back in international football for France. I now feel France is a real favourite to win the Euros.”

The two-time Champions League and Premier League champion was essential, disrupting play, advancing the ball, and dribbling with finesse.

With all five of the replacements made by coach Didier Deschamps, Kante was one of six outfield players who played the entire ninety minutes, winning the player of the match award.
