Guirassy powers Dortmund to beat CF Monterrey at Club World Cup

The standout performer of the match was striker Serhou Guirassy, whose clinical first-half brace proved decisive in propelling the German giants past their spirited Mexican opponents.

Dortmund asserted their dominance early on as Serhou Guirassy converted a ball by Karim Adeyemi in the 14th minute.

Adeyemi and Guirassy combined again for Dortmund's second in the 24th minute to take a halftime lead.

Despite the early setback, CF Monterrey mounted a spirited comeback keeping Dortmund on edge.

Monterrey pulled one back through Germán Berterame in the 48th minute capitalizing on a defensive lapse.

The victory marks a significant rebound for Dortmund, who had suffered a humbling 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League quarterfinals earlier this year.

Dortmund held on to advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face Real Madrid, setting the stage for a rematch of the 2024 Champions League final.
