Harambee Stars Striker Ryan Ogam Fires Up Fans with Bold Promise Ahead of Ivory Coast Clash
Ryan Ogam has opened up about the honour of donning the Kenyan jersey as he made a bold promise to fans ahead of the World Cup qualifier match between Harambee Stars and the Ivory Coast on Tuesday, October 14.
The Harambee Stars striker has been on a roll since making his Harambee Stars debut in the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024). He earned his first Harambee Stars call-up in January 2025.
Ryan Ogam scored his first goal in CHAN 2024 during Harambee Stars' match against the two-time CHAN champions, Morocco, before also scoring the winning goal against Zambia that secured them a spot in the quarterfinal on home soil.

The former Tusker FC striker then got called up to represent Kenya in the World Cup qualifier matches against The Gambia and Seychelles. Ryan Ogam scored the consolation goal against the Scorpions as they lost 3-1.
Ryan Ogam scored two goals as Kenya sank Seychelles 5-0. Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga also found the back of the net twice (one was a penalty), with Collins Sichenje also scoring. In their recent encounter against Burundi, Ryan Ogam also scored the winning goal.
Ryan Ogam Speaks Ahead of Ivory Coast Encounter
The Wolfsberger AC striker emphasised that wearing the Kenyan national team jersey is a great honour and opportunity, one he always looks forward to making the most of.
Ahead of the Harambee Stars’ clash with the Ivory Coast, he affirmed his commitment to giving his best on the pitch.
Ryan Ogam added that he hopes his current form serves as an inspiration to young players aspiring to reach the top level.
He expressed his desire to keep scoring and building on his momentum, noting that he has greatly enjoyed his recent performances and hopes to maintain, or even improve, his current run of form.
“Donning the national team jersey is a huge pleasure because of the weight it carries as we are representing millions of Kenyans. It’s a pleasure to always don this jersey, and I always want to give my best every time I wear this jersey,” Ryan Ogam told FKF Media.
“I hope that by doing that, I’m an inspiration to upcoming footballers because I’m very lucky to play with some people whom I used to look up to when in was young.
“I have had the honour of scoring, and it’s definitely something that I want to carry to the next games for club and country.”
