He is always a threat to defenders — Alan Shearer hails Super Eagles striker

England legend Alan Shearer praised Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi for his performance in Nottingham Forest's FA Cup match against Manchester United at the City Ground.

Casemiro scored for the Red Devils in the 90th minute to knock Forest out of the competition but Awoniyi was a menace all evening and was unlucky to be on the losing side.

The Super Eagles striker fluffed a fine chance but remained an active threat to the United defence as Forest battled hard for 90 minutes.

Shearer emphasized that Awoniyi is among the best in utilizing his pace and physical prowess to navigate past defenders.

“Awoniyi makes the sort of runs a defender doesn’t want – in behind.

“When He’s at it, he looks a threat for Forest,” the former Newcastle United frontman said during his commentary on BBC One.
