The former Besiktas midfielder, who is now a football pundit in Turkey, identified Barıs Alper Yılmaz as Galatasaray's most crucial player under manager Okan Buruk this season.

Following Galatasaray's 2-0 victory over Eyupspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday, Engin shared his views on the Assist Analysis YouTube channel, emphasizing Yılmaz's significance.

“Galatasaray doesn’t really care about the league; they’re playing like they’re training, idling,” Engin said, as reported by Habersarikirmizi.

"The club's main goal is the Champions League. Galatasaray wins matches, excluding derbies, by walking the walk. Icardi also scored a goal by walking the walk in the Eyüpspor match.

Engin praised Yılmaz's impact, stating, “If Barış Alper Yılmaz hadn’t come on, the match would have finished 0-0. He’s a very important factor for Galatasaray.

“In my opinion, Barış Alper Yılmaz is Galatasaray’s most creative player. He’s ahead of Icardi, Sane, and Osimhen.”

Despite Osimhen's status as Galatasaray's record signing at €75 million and his impressive 37 goals last season, Engin believes Yılmaz's creativity is more vital to the team's success.

Osimhen is currently unavailable after being forced off injured in the first half of Nigeria's World Cup qualifier clash against Rwanda. He is unlikely to return in time for Gala's UEFA Champions League opener against Frankfurt on September 18.
