He was baking top players and making people dance - Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand on Sancho
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has praised compatriot Jadon Sancho after the winger’s superb performance for Borussia Dortmund in their 1-0 Champions League semifinal first leg win against PSG.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Sancho proved unplayable, producing a man-of-the-match contender with a display full of flair, trickery, and class to inspire the Black and Yellow at the Signal Idunna Park on Wednesday night.
Ferdinand Hails Sancho
His stats in the Champions League encounter told the story - most duels won (13), most take-ons completed (12), most touches in the opposition box (11), and the most chances created (3) on the night.
Ferdinand, who retired from United before Sancho joined the Red Devils from Dortmund, was blown away by what he saw from the on-loan United star.
"He was shaking and baking top players. He's putting people on the floor. He was making people dance," Ferdinand gushed after the match per a Givemesport post.
"He was a joke. We haven't seen this since he was last at Dortmund."
Rediscovering His Best Form
Sancho’s impressive display was a clear reminder of what had made the 23-year-old winger one of the most feared young attackers in Europe during his first stint at Borussia Dortmund.
His 73 million pounds move to United failed to work out initially, with the youngster struggling with a combination of form and confidence before he eventually fell out with new manager Erik Ten Hag.
Following his exile from United, Sancho returned to Germany in January and has rekindled his love for the game while rediscovering his mojo in familiar surroundings.
If he can maintain his current level, Sancho will not only fire Dortmund to a Champions League final but could also put himself firmly in the shop window for a potential big-money summer move as the Red Devils look to cut their losses under new leadership.
