Two days after the embarrassing loss to Slovakia, Jens Lehmann, the legendary goalkeeper for Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke 04 and the German national team, delivered harsh words to the "Die Mannschaft" coach, whom he considers primarily responsible for the team's poor performance.

In an interview with WELT TV, via GSP, Lehmann spoke candidly about the issues facing Germany, stating that, at this moment, the role of national team coach seems to be too big a hat for Julian Nagelsmann to wear.

"Understanding exactly what's happening on the pitch is twice as difficult for a young coach who hasn't seen much and has never played at the highest level. He (Nagelsmann) said the players didn't give their all, that they didn't play with enough emotion.

"That's just an excuse, and I've noticed he does this almost all the time. He's just trying to appease the public. From my perspective, he has no excuse.

"He has the best footballers in Germany at his disposal, and it's unacceptable to deliver such a performance. If you can't get results with players like that, it means you're not suited for the role." - Jens Lehmann, for WELT TV
