The centre-forward position boasts some of the biggest talents in world football, including Victor Osimhen, Robert Lewandowski, Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, and the like.

This season, Kylian Mbappe has permanently joined the ranks, and as unlike at PSG where he is allowed to pick up choice positions across the front line, he is deployed as the central striker for Real Madrid.

What Ancelotti said

The France international abhors being the central point of a team's attack, and this was a major talking point ahead of his move to Real Madrid, as his favourite position on the left-wing was already occupied by another superstar, Vinicius Jr.

Hence, he has had to adapt to the position he reportedly hates and has largely played as a centre-forward for Real Madrid this season. The teething period was arduous, as he attracted a fair amount of criticism.

Mbappe is now showing the quality that made Los Blancos pull all the stops for him and has been on a scoring spree in the last few games. He had another excellent performance in Sunday's 4-1 demolition of Las Palmas, and coach Ancelotti was effusive in his praise.

According to the Italian, Mbappe is already the best centre-forward in the world, placing him ahead of a host of stars who have shone in the position for years.
