He's not coming back — Chippa United coach reveals how many suitors want Nwabali
Chippa United coach Sean Louw believes there is no chance Super Eagles shot-stopper Stanley Nwabali returns to the club next season, as he has a spate of suitors lined up looking to sign him.
Nwabali joined Chippa United two seasons ago and would have probably continued beyond this summer, but his profile rose exponentially during the AFCON 2023 campaign—in which he kept three clean sheets in Nigeria’s journey to a silver medal—higher than playing for the South African side, as the club's president was honest enough to admit.
Nwabali on his way out — coach confirms
The writing on the wall was clear after the tournament: Nwabali earned a step up in his career. And comments from Chippa United, most recently from the coach, show they do not plan to stand in his way
Louw, speaking on the goalkeeper's future, confirmed that the Nigerian has many suitors. He was not sure how many of them were official, but he could confirm that the former Enyimba goalie had up to 12 verbal offers.
“On physical hard copy paper, I don’t know how many offers he has received. But verbally, he has around 10 or even 12 offers,” Louw told FARPost. “He is definitely not coming back to Chippa next season.”
His display on an international level aside, Nwabali had a brilliant season in the South African Premier Division for Chippa United. He kept an impressive 11 clean sheets in 26 appearances for a team that finished 12th on the log.
