Hooray! Kitende clinch CECAFA Zonal CAF African Schools Championship
St. Mary's Secondary School Kitende (SMASK) have rounded off a near-perfect CECAFA Zonal CAF African Schools qualifiers in style, winning the championship.
The Ugandan representatives in the boys' category edged Tanzania 4-2 via post-match penalties after the game had ended in a one-all stalemate.
Prior to the final against the Tanzanians, Kitende had picked five wins in as many games in the group.
They beat each of Somalia, Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania to lead the table before setting up a final with the latter.
Kitende (Team Uganda) ended the tournament undisputedly, as they scored 12 goals and conceded just three.
The Dan Male-coached side will represent the region at the continental showdown slated for 2024.

In just the second year of the tournament, Ugandan teams have emerged as regional champions, and this represented CECAFA in the continent.
Last year, Royal Giants High School clinched the CECAFA title, representing Uganda and the entire CECAFA region.
In the girls' category, Kawempe Muslim SS also clinched the Zonal championship after edging Kenya 2-1 earlier in the day.
