Samuel Eto'o has revealed how Jose Mourinho convinced him to swap Barcelona for Inter Milan in 2009.

Samuel Eto'o abandoned the sunny summers of Barcelona when he joined Serie A side Inter Milan in the summer of 2009.

He spent two seasons in Italy and achieved another treble, winning Serie A, Coppa Italia, and the UEFA Champions League. 

The Cameroon legend made history as the first player to win consecutive trebles with different clubs. 

He credits the persuasive power of Portuguese coach Mourinho, who convinced him with just a photo to leave Barcelona.

Eto'o reveals how Mourinho convinced him to leave Barcelona

"Mourinho convinced me in a simple way," Eto'o told Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by Marca. 

"He sent me a photo of Inter's No. 9 shirt and wrote to me saying: 'It's yours, it's waiting for you'.

"[Marco] Materazzi then messaged me saying: 'If you come to Inter, we'll win everything.'

"I didn't have his number in my phone so I asked [Demetrio] Albertini: 'Is it yours?

"Such a thing had never happened to me in my whole career and that message carried great weight in my decision."
