American sprint queen Melissa Jefferson-Wooden is still in disbelief over the season she has had this year following remarkable success.

Jefferson-Wooden had a memorable campaign, when she won three gold medals at the 2025 World Championships, winning both the 100m and 200, the first American woman to achieve a sprints double, before adding the 4x100m relay with the rest of her Team USA colleagues.

That came after an unblemished run in both 100m and 200m all season, including winning the 100m Diamond League Trophy, and she believes she could not have achieved much were it not for the huge support from her fans.

“This year has been nothing short of amazing and even now, I still find myself trying to truly understand what I did this year.

“To my team and my village, I’m nothing without you and because of that reason, I’ll always put my best foot forward to show up for you. Cheers to an amazing year. The year to come may be a challenge to top, but that’s what it’s all about. See y'all good folks in 2026,” she added, expressing a willingness to continue dominating now that she is the woman to beat.

The 24-year-old came of age in 2025 when she was also untouchable in the Grand Slam Track, where she emerged victorious in the short sprints across all three legs, setting the tempo for what she would come to achieve in Tokyo.

Jefferson-Wooden will be a major target for rivals in 2026 as they look to knock her off her perch and it remains to be seen how she will handle it.
