The match witnessed a significant turnaround for Atalanta, ending a four-game winless streak. Mateo Retegui was the standout performer, scoring both goals for Atalanta in the come-from-behind victory.
But Gasperini noted that Lookman and De Ketelaere also contributed positively to the team's attacking efforts, despite having goals disallowed.
In his post-match comments, Gasperini acknowledged the challenges of maintaining peak fitness levels throughout the season.
"It’s surely not easy to keep the same fitness level at all times," he said according to Football Italia. He also praised the team's second-half performance, stating, "The performance across the 90 minutes was positive; it’s an important win."
Gasperini highlighted the impact of substitutes Bellanova and Brescianini, who found crucial spaces that helped revitalise the attack.
“Lookman and De Ketelaere had scored, which means our attacking manoeuvres have started working again. We had the chance to kill off the game, but I am satisfied,” He added.
With this victory, Atalanta solidified their position in the top tier of Serie A, showcasing their resilience as they aim to build momentum moving forward. As they prepare for upcoming matches, Gasperini's confidence in his strikers will be pivotal in their quest for success this season.
