'I conquered a fear' - Elaine Thompson-Herah shows off vital accomplishment after heartbreaking 2024 Olympic season

World's fastest woman alive Elaine Thompson-Herah put behind the frustrations of her 2024 Olympic season by conquering one of her biggest fears.

The Jamaican sprint legend missed competing at the Paris Olympics, following a disheartening withdrawal from the Jamaican Olympic trials after sustaining an Achilles tendon injury at the NYC Grand Prix in May.

Her non-participation ended her Olympic dreams of challenging to make history as the first woman to complete the sprint double titles at three consecutive Olympics, after successful feats in previous editions at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Putting the disappointment behind, Thompson-Herah made her first public appearance post-Paris by being present at the Zurich Diamond League, where Armand Duplantis and Karsten Warholm faced off in the glamorous 100m showdown won by the Swedish pole vaulter.

She was spotted in the stands by Athletics journalist and reporter @realtalkwithtee and Thompson-Herah was kind enough to oblige a picture.

Consequently and still in the healing stage of overcoming the heartbreak of the 2024 season, the five-time Olympic champion took the bold step of conquering one of her biggest fears.

Thompson-Herah went on a girl's day out as they visited a waterfall in Jamaica. Having a phobia ofof water, she was reluctant to approach the base of the water or even swim in it.

However, she overcame this after several attempts which she posted on her Instagram stories with the caption: "I conquered a fear today".

With the 2024 season over, the talented speedster will be gunning to make a huge comeback next year by aiming to regain her position as the best female sprinter in the new era.
