With just two weeks remaining until the 2025 Ballon d'Or ceremony on Monday, September 22nd, in Paris, Lamine Yamal finds himself among the world's top 30 contenders.
He harbours legitimate hopes for another surprise outcome, much like last year when Rodri edged out Vinícius Júnior.
However, PSG players are currently leading the race, thanks to their exceptional collective and individual seasons, with Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha emerging as favourites.
What Yamal said
When questioned about the prestigious award, Yamal refrained from discussing this year's prospects but admitted his ambition to win the Ballon d'Or multiple times, aiming to reach the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
"I told my friends that I don't dream of winning one Ballon d'Or, but many," he stated in an interview with the Resonancia de Corazón podcast, via Abola.
"I believe I'm a player capable of achieving that. If I don't, it's because I didn't do things well or because I didn't want to. That's why I dream of winning many, and when that day comes, I'll be very happy. But I'll want to keep winning more," he explained.
Should the Barcelona forward clinch the award, he would become the youngest ever recipient, shattering Ronaldo Nazário's record (21 years and 3 months). If it doesn't happen this month, Yamal will have three more opportunities.
