'I focused on myself' - Isak's replacement opens up on how he handles pressure
Woltemade joined Newcastle from VfB Stuttgart in a club-record deal worth £64.9 million ($87.5m) following the departure of star striker Alexander Isak.
The German international has hit the ground running in his first game for Newcastle, scoring the only goal in their 1-0 victory over Wolves.
What Woltemade said
Newcastle's new striker, Nick Woltemade, spoke after the team's victory over Wolverhampton and credited Eddie Howe for making him feel at ease on the pitch.
"I've only been here for four days, so everything was new to me. I put that aside and focused on myself.
"I think the manager had already put me in such a good mood that I felt comfortable on the pitch.
"I knew what to do, and I think you saw that everyone knew what they had to do," the 23-year-old German stated, as quoted by the BBC, via Sportal.
According to Opta, Woltemade is only the third German to score in his Premier League debut, following Jürgen Klinsmann (1994) and Ilkay Gündogan (2016). Newcastle climbed to ninth place in the Premier League with 5 points.
