Former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has urged the club to make a move for his compatriot Paul Pogba, as he believes he would make an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta’s budding side.

The 31-year-old is currently on the books of Juventus and will return to action in March after receiving a favourable ruling from the Court of Arbitration of Sport, which saw his four-year ban for elevated levels of testosterone in his bloodstream reduced to 18 months.

While news of Pogba's early return has been cheered by the global sporting community, the reaction from Juventus has been lukewarm.

Following the ruling, reports from Italy suggested that the Old Lady were plotting to terminate Pogba's contract. In an interview, the French international had a different stance, as he stated his desire was to remain at the club.

Juventus’s stance could mean Pogba would have to find a new club soon, and Sagna, who was teammates with the former Manchester United star in the French national team, has tipped him for an Arsenal move.

"The Premier League suits Paul Pogba—I would love to see him join Arsenal. It would be great—he has experience; he loves to play with young players around him—that is when he is most efficient,” Sagna told Paddy Power

“At the 2018 World Cup, that was when he was most efficient—he had friends around him. Arsenal have a young, fresh team, and I see him performing in an Arsenal shirt. He will get love from their fans. Now, he can start from scratch again—he's had time away from football, and he’ll be back with a desire to get back into a good space and play football again.”
