Isabirye finally seeing significant improvements at Vipers

Six players from Vipers have been summoned for Cranes tour.
Vipers SC assumed a huge semi-final first-leg advantage in the Uganda Cup after thrashing Soltilo Bright Stars FC 4-0 at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende, on Saturday.

The two will meet again on May 30 at the Kavumba Recreation Grounds for the second leg.

They also swept Express FC in a 5-2 victory previously in the Uganda Premier League, an apparent show of improvements at a crucial stage of the season.

"I am happy we made it easier for ourselves, and now they will need to beat us 5-0 at their home," said Alex Isabirye about the win.

"It will not be easy, but now we have a good advantage," added the tactician, whose side has now scored nine home goals in the last two matches.

"The team is improving game after game, and I think we are on the right track."

"We played well again today, especially against a well-organized team that is always hard to break."

Should the Venoms hit the final, it'll make it three in succession as the search for a third Cup heats up. They've won and lost one apiece in the past two years.

The team is also chasing a first-ever domestic double, as they lead the league with 49 points and a superior goal difference over rivals KCCA FC and SC Villa.

In the final slated for the Akii-Bua Memorial Stadium in Lira, the eventual victor between Vipers and Bright Stars will take on either Police FC or Adjumani TC.

Police hold a slim 1-0 advantage from the first leg ahead of the second round in Adjumani.
