‘It doesn’t matter who plays’ - Frankfurt manager claims Osimhen is not dangerous ahead of clash
The Nigerian international is set to miss the UCL clash after sustaining an ankle injury on international duty while playing for the Super Eagles.
The striker was injured in the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda, in which they won by a narrow 1-0 scoreline.
Following the injury, the 26-year-old missed their recent 2-0 victory against Eyupspor at the weekend and will miss their UCL clash on Thursday.
Toppmoller not scared of Osimhen
Regardless of the Nigerian's availability, Toppmoller stated in a pregame interview that his team is only concerned with their own game plan.
"He’s an absolutely exceptional striker in Europe. His replacement, Mauro Icardi, has also proven he can score goals," Toppmoller said, as reported by SGE4EVER.
"In the end, it doesn’t matter who plays up front. Of course, the way he plays makes a difference because Osimhen attacks more from deep.
"Whether he plays or not is irrelevant to us. Both teams will have eleven top players on the pitch tomorrow."
This season, Osimhen has played three games for Galatasaray and has scored two goals. His absence in the attack ahead of the game would limit their strength.
Frankfurt will turn their attention to Mauro Icardi, who could be tasked with leading the attack in Osimhen's absence.
The Argentine is also one of the best strikers in the team and has scored three goals in four matches for the Lions.
