Iwobi’s teammate confronted by angry Everton fans in the street
Everton defender Yerry Mina was confronted by a small group of fans of the club in the streets outside the Goodison Park Stadium.
Mina was been filmed speaking to Toffees fans who confronted him following his side's latest defeat in the Premier League.
Everton lost 2-1 at home to bottom club, Southampton despite star player Alex Iwobi playing the full game which is the root of the anger for the fans and led to them accosting Mina.
Everton fans challenge Yerry Mina
A video of the incident was posted on social media and even though the audio is hard to make out among the shouts from other fans, a passionate supporter could still be seen challenging Mina.
“If we go down, you stay? No you won’t, will you? If we go to the Championship, you stay?” The fans said passionately speaking to Mina.
“Show us a bit of heart, lad. Be a leader then, lad. Speak out. Respect lad. Show me that passion,” the original supporter continued.
The Colombian defender responded positively to the challenge saying, “I will give my life for this club,” despite remaining an unused substitute in the game against Southampton.
The fan again gave his support to the 28-year-old, saying, “Show them that you're the man then lad. Be our captain, wear the armband.”
To which Mina responded, “I'm sorry for this,” in reference to Everton's dire situation as they currently sit 19th on the log, level on points with bottom-placed Southampton.
“It's not your fault,” was the response before Mina was escorted away by a police officer to a round of applause.
