Jamal Musiala withdraws from Germany squad due to injury

Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala has withdrawn from the Germany squad due to a thigh injury.

Jamal Musiala has handed a blow to Germany ahead of their international friendlies against Peru and Belgium.

The Bayern Munich attacking midfielder has injured his left thigh and will now stay back in Munich instead of joining up with his international teammates.

National team head coach Hansi Flick has decided not to call up a replacement for Musiala and will stick with the players available.

“We all hoped that Jamal would be fit because he has unique qualities,” Flick said. 

“That’s why it’s a shame for everyone that he’s not there.

“We wish him a full recovery as soon as possible and being able to play again after the internationals.”

Musiala came on at half-time for Bayern in Sunday’s 2-1 Bundesliga defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.

This could also be crucial for the Bavarians as they the decisive point of the season with huge games on the horizon after the international break.

Musiala key for Bayern Munich

Bayern will be hoping Musiala recovers in time to play a key part in the coming weeks as they face league leaders Borussia Dortmund,, on April 1.

On April 11, they play Freiburg in the DFB Pokal quarterfinal and face the same opponents in the league three days later. 

Musiala has 20 caps for Germany and was a part of Flick’s squad at the 2022 World Cup.
