Tottenham forward Harry Kane has continued to be the sole shining light in a sorry season for Spurs as he set a new Premier League record despite the club’s Saturday afternoon loss to Brentford.
Kane sets new Premier League record with stunning goal against Brentford
Kane opened the scoring for Tottenham against Brentford with a stunning freekick after only eight minutes, hoping to help Spurs to their second win in seven Premier League matches.
A second-half comeback from Brentford led by Yoan Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo scuppered that dream, but Kane had already made his mark on the game and the Premier League history books thanks to his goal.

Congratulations, @HKane! pic.twitter.com/oRJyKz6ZVb
The Englishman’s goal saw him reach the 30-goal mark in all competitions for the fifth time in his career, as he climbed to 28 goals in the league in the 2022/23 campaign.
10 - Harry Kane has become just the second player to score 10 London derby goals in a single Premier League campaign, after Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in 2001-02. Capitalism. #TOTBRE pic.twitter.com/ub2MsGdfVn

More importantly, it was the 27th Premier League match this season that Kane had scored in, which makes him the player to score in the most separate games in a single Premier League campaign.
Kane reaches negative milestone in Spurs’ defeat
Despite the superb record that Kane set with his goal against Brentford, the Egland captain will surely be disappointed by Tottenham’s overall season which has the club labouring in eighth place with no hope of European football next season.
60 - Tottenham in 2022-23 is just the second time in a 38-game Premier League season that a side has both scored and conceded 60+ goals, with the other occasion also being Spurs in 2007-08. End-to-end. #TOTBRE

Spurs’ awful season has impacted Kane as well, as he now sits second on the all-time list of players to lose the most matches while scoring in one Premier League season.
7 - Today was the seventh time in the Premier League this season that Harry Kane has ended on the losing side in a game he scored in; only Jamie Vardy in 2017-18 (9) has ever scored in more games for the losing side in a single campaign. Vain. pic.twitter.com/tU7iRSnuye

The loss to Brentford was the seventh time this season that Kane had scored in a Spurs loss, leaving him behind only Jamie Vardy who scored in nine Leicester City losses in the 2017/18 season.
With only one game left for Tottenham this campaign, Kane will be glad to know that breaking Vardy’s unwanted record this season will be impossible.
