KCB's leading marksman Kennedy Owino facing an uncertain future at the club

KCB’s Kennedy Daddy Owino, whose contract is set to expire on August 24, is yet to sign a contract extension with the bankers, Pulse Sports understands.

Owino, 26, had a stellar campaign last season, scoring 10 goals as KCB finished fifth in the league on 64 points,  six behind eventual league winners Gor Mahia.

Owino had fought to be the first-choice striker amongst a crop of four centre forwards that former head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno had at his disposal, with the others being Henry Onyango, Francis Kahiro and former Gor Mahia striker Nicholas Kipkirui.

Pulse Sports also understands that Tusker head coach Robert Matano is a great admirer of the striker, who likes playing on the shoulder of the last defender.

It remains to be seen whether new head coach Bernard Mwalala will fit him into his plans and ask for him to stay, as he showed his capability at filling the goalscoring void left by Derrick Otanga, who finished as the FKF-PL top scorer in the 2021/22 season.

Should Owino decide to leave, he will have decided to end his seven-year relationship with the bankers, who he joined in 2016 from Nakuru All Stars. He also had a brief stint playing for the now defunct Chemelil Sugar.
