KCCA Eye Redemption Against Kenyan Side After Poor Start at African Club Volleyball Championship
Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Uganda's representatives at the 2026 African Women’s Club Volleyball Championship, faced a challenging start to their campaign in Cairo, Egypt.
The team, known as the Kasasiro Girls, suffered a decisive 3-0 defeat to Tunisian powerhouse CF Carthage on Tuesday evening. The set scores were 16-25, 17-25, and 10-25.
Despite showing moments of strong floor defence in the first set, KCCA struggled to maintain momentum against Carthage's powerful serves and dominant middle blockers.
Under the guidance of coach Edward Bwenje, the Ugandan side started the second set aggressively and briefly took the lead.
Kenyan Side Also Reeling from Defeat
However, the seasoned Tunisian squad's experience proved superior, allowing them to claim the set 25-17. The 2017 champions then sealed their straight-sets victory with a commanding 25-10 win in the third set.
KCCA will have an opportunity to rebound on Wednesday evening when they face Kenyan side DCI Queens. The Queens also lost their opening match to Carthage in straight sets.
It was a tougher outing for the Kenyan representatives, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The "sleuths" put up a spirited fight against Tunisian powerhouse CF Carthage but were ultimately defeated 3-0.
DCI narrowly lost the first set 25-22 after a hard-fought battle. The second set followed a similar pattern, with the Tunisians winning 25-19, before Carthage dominated the final set 25-12 to close out the match.
