Muguna joined the 16-time Botswana champions after his deal with Kenya Police had ended but he has been used sparingly at his new club.

The midfielder is, however, back home at the moment to sort out some personal issues but he is delighted by his new environment as he looks to make it a success in the Southern African nation.

“The season is ongoing but I had some issues back at home that I came to handle but even going back will be more difficult because Botswana qualified for AFCON and the league will take a break on November 28,” Muguna said on Sporty FM.

“So we are remaining with two matches and then they will take a break so it will not make sense for me to go back. I will be in Kenya until the break ends and then I will join the team in January.”

Commenting on life in Botswana, Muguna says he has found it easy to adapt as football in the country is similar to what he experienced in Kenya.

“I like the move because I have played most of my football in East Africa so going down south is a good experience for me,” he added.

“Compared to here, there is not a big difference because they are also growing at the pace we are growing so it was not difficult to adapt when I got there.

Township Rollers Still Playing Catch Up in the League

“They have big community teams and corporate sides like we have here and the structure there is the same as here.”

The 29-year-old is among the experienced players in the squad having won four league titles in Kenya, three with Gor Mahia and one with Police, while also playing in Tanzania for two years with Azam FC, added to his stint in the national team Harambee Stars.

Township Rollers, who are sixth on the 16-team Botswana Premier League standings, with 18 points from nine matches, are hoping for a successful season this term after finishing sixth last season, but have work to do as leaders Gaborone United are eight points ahead.
