Kenya's Cricket Queens captain reveals what cost them victory against UAE in Victoria Tri-Series Opener
The national women’s cricket team captain, Sharon Juma insists that the batting of the team let them down as the side lost to the UAE by 15 runs at the ongoing Victoria Tri-Series taking place in Kampala, Uganda.
“Our strategy was to field first and contain them to 80 runs in a worst-case scenario,” she said,” I think we bowled well as well as in our fielding,” she added.

“Our batters really let us down, me included. It was not the right time for me to come out. We thought we could get that game with overs to spare but unfortunately, it happened. It’s cricket.
“We have to improve on our batting. We have to stick to wickets,” she added.
The ladies had managed to put up an impressive bowling display, managing to restrict UAE to 84 runs in 20 overs.
However, Kenya’s 68 runs proved inadequate as the 15th-ranked UAE walked away with victory courtesy of their tight bowling of skipper Chaya Mugal, Indhuja Nandakumar, Vaishnave Manesh, and Lavanya Keny.
Vanessa Ooko was Kenya’s best batter. She scored 15 runs before being bowled out by all-rounder Mughal.
