Kishane Thompon, Shericka Jackson Headlines World Relays Squad as Jamaica Misses Big Names
Olympic 100m silver medallist Kishane Thompson will lead the Jamaican National Team to the 2025 World Athletics Relays slated for May 10-11 in Guangzhou, China.
Thompson, who finished with the exact same time of 9.79 seconds as Noah Lyles at the Paris Olympic Games before the American was awarded the gold medal by a margin of five-thousandths of a second after a photo finish, headlines the 31-member team composed of 16 women and 15 men for the two-day event according to a press release.
In the men's 4x100m relays and 4x100m mixed relays, Ackeem Blake, Yohan Blake, Julian Forte, Rasheed Foster, Bryan Levell, Javari Thomas, Kishane Thompson and Rohan Watson make up the team.
Zandrion Barnes, Javier Brown, Demar Francis, Malik James-King, Delano Kennedy, Rusheen McDonald and Tarees Rhoden form the 4x400m relays as well as the 4x400m mixed relays team.
Redemption time for Shericka Jackson?
Four-time world champion Shericka Jackson has her work cut out in her bid to win more medals in China. The 30-year-old three-time Olympic bronze medallist headlines the women's 4x100m relay and the 4x100m mixed relays team.
Shericka Jackson who faced a major heartbreak last year by missing out on the Paris Olympics title defence due to an injury, competed in the Miramar International in April 2025 and continues training with the World Athletics Championships in foresight.
Last chance saloon for Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce
Jackson will have eight-time Olympic medallist veteran Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for company as the 38-year-old eyes more glory probably in her last year on track and field before hanging up her spikes.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce had recently shared an update on her official social media pages about returning to the track and sent out a strong message to her competitors.
She made her 2025 season debut in the 100m at the Velocity Fest in Jamaica. The group also has Niesha Burgher, Tia Clayton, Tina Clayton, Serena Cole, Natasha Morrison, Alana Reid, and Krystal Sloley.
The 4x400m relay and the 4x400m mixed relays will be composed of Shana Kaye Anderson, Kelly-Ann Beckford, Roneisha McGregor, Shiann Salmon, Ronda WhyteJodean Williams and Stacey-Ann Williams.
Jamaica will be guided by three coaches, namely; Paul Francis, Michael Frater and Sean-Michael Samuels.
These strong line of competitors will be a huge threat to other teams like the United States of America, Canada and United Kingdom among others.
