Lamine Yamal: Hansi Flick accuses Spanish national team of causing injury to Barcelona star
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick was heavily critical of the Spanish national team following the injury to Lamine Yamal. He blamed them for playing him unnecessarily and giving him painkillers.
What Flick said
The German tactician had the pre-match press conference for their game against Valencia today, when he announced that Lamine Yamal will not be available to play. He revealed that the youngster had not been training, as he was experiencing discomfort. The injury comes right after the international break, and Flick believes it was caused by a lack of proper care from the national team.
"Lamine Yamal will not be available. He went with the national team in pain and did not train,” Flick said, per Mundo Deportivo.
“They gave him painkillers to play. They had at least a three-goal lead in every match, and he played 73 minutes and 79, and between matches, he couldn't train. That is not taking care of the player. I am very sad about this."
Yamal's injury
As Pulse Sports reported, Barcelona confirmed Yamal’s injury via an official club statement and that he will miss their LALIGA clash against Valencia. Reports from Spain suggest he could also miss their Champions League opening game against Newcastle at St James's Park next Thursday.
He also partook in Barcelona's first training session after the international break. The Blaugrana have now announced that he is no longer able to train or play, as he is experiencing discomfort in his pelvic area.
