Former Ajax and AC Milan striker Marco van Basten expressed his admiration on Ziggo Sport, but also highlighted a potential shift in Yamal's career:

"It's a real shame he plays on the right wing because he doesn't get the ball enough. If he played centrally, his impact on the game would be much greater.

"Of course, he's a constant threat on the right wing, but I think he could contribute even more in the middle. I believe it's the next step in his development. He can score goals, deliver crosses, and create chances, we all know that.

"The question now is, what impact can he have on the whole team? A player like him needs to operate more centrally. He simply needs to be on the ball more often, like Messi used to be."

Lamine Yamal reached the UEFA Nations League final with Spain, but didn't have a particularly impactful performance, and his team ultimately lost. Despite this, he earned praise from Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored for Portugal in the final.

"He will win many more trophies, both team and individual. He's a phenomenon, but we need to leave him alone, that's all I ask.

"He has a very long career ahead of him, and I'm sure he'll win the Nations League many more times," praised the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
