I love you and I'm proud of you - Lionel Messi's wife Antonela Roccuzzo sends him 'touching' tribute after final home game for Argentina
Lionel Messi played what is expected to be his final home match for Argentina at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.
The 38-year-old forward led his side to a 3–0 win over Venezuela on Thursday night, September 4.
Messi scored twice and was given a standing ovation from more than 80,000 fans.
Supporters displayed a giant banner with his image and name, while chants filled the stadium throughout the night.
Antonela’s tribute to Messi
Antonela Roccuzzo, Messi’s wife and childhood sweetheart, marked the moment with a touching message.
The 37-year-old was present at the Estadio Monumental with her three children and Messi’s family.
Anto shared photos of Messi in action and with their three sons, adding a short tribute to his career and dedication to Argentina.
“Proud of you, every step you take and everything you built with love and effort. How lucky are we to be with you on this path!!! 🤍🕊 We love you @ leomessi.”
Messi and Antonela, who married in 2017, have three children: Thiago, Mateo and Ciro.
They have often been seen celebrating with him after major tournaments, including the 2022 World Cup win in Qatar.
Messi has previously said that becoming a father changed his outlook on football and life.
'La Pulga' has often credited Antonela for giving him stability and strength during difficult times.

His words fuelled speculation that this was his last appearance in front of home supporters in national colours.
Although Messi confirmed this was his last game on home soil, he stopped short of announcing international retirement.
Asked about his future with Argentina, he replied simply: “We’ll see.”
Attention now turns to whether he will continue until the 2026 World Cup.
