Liverpool eye highly rated talent to fix problem position

Liverpool are expected to make midfield acquisitions in the summer, and they are reportedly interested in Southampton's highly-rated Romeo Lavia.

The 19-year-old has been one of the most acclaimed talents in the Premier League this season, and since joining from Manchester City last summer he has been subject to several transfer links.  

Liverpool have joined the tussle for Belgium midfielder Romeo Lavia ahead of the summer transfer window according to Football Insider.  

The Merseyside giants have reportedly marked the midfield dynamo as one of their targets as they look to make wholesale midfield changes in the summer. 

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Naby Keita are expected to leave after their contracts expire at the end of this season.  

With Milner and Henderson's advanced ages and Thiago's fitness issues, the midfield is anticipated to be a focus area for Liverpool in the summer transfer market.

Liverpool are also in the race for Jude Bellingham, as they seek to make significant changes in the middle of the park. 

Southampton are currently in the relegation places, and although Lavia signed a five-year contract, they might be forced to sell the midfielder.

Also, Manchester City, from whom they signed him, inserted a £40 million buyback clause in his contract, which becomes active in 2024, and are also entitled to 20% of any future sale.
