Liverpool eyes new defensive midfielder as Fabinho's form continues to wane

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing PSV Eindhoven's Ibrahim Sanagare in the summer transfer window.

The Reds are reportedly set for a midfield overhaul in the summer and are said to be preparing a move for the 25-year-old Ivorian as reinforcement for the position. 

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are keen on a move for Eredivisie star midfielder Sangare.

The Merseyside giants are said to be gearing up for a massive summer transfer window in the midfield position, with Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain expected to leave after their contracts expire at the end of the season. 

Also, with the advanced ages of James Milner and Jordan Henderson, Jurgen Klopp is anticipated to want new bodies in midfield, and Liverpool have been linked with a number of prospective signings in the position. 

Sangare is the latest name linked to Liverpool, and the Reds are even said to have made a move for him, along with fellow Premier League club West Ham, last summer, but a deal could not be struck.

Sangare has been one of the top performers in the Eredivisie since signing from Toulouse in the summer of 2020.

Although he is on a contract that runs until 2027, his performances, which have seen him score seven goals and provide three assists this season despite playing as a defensive midfielder, could cut his time at PSV short, with top European clubs looking to get him in their teams. 

As reported earlier, Liverpool have joined the tussle for Belgium midfielder Romeo Lavia ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider.  

The Merseyside giants have reportedly marked the midfield dynamo as one of their targets as they look to make wholesale midfield changes in the summer. 

Liverpool are also in the race for Jude Bellingham, as they seek to make significant changes in the middle of the park.
