Liverpool receive triple boost ahead of Real Madrid clash
Liverpool have been handed a massive boost ahead of the first leg of their Champions League clash against Real Madrid next week.
The Reds host defending champions at Anfield next Tuesday in a repeat of this last season’s final.
Liverpool receive Van Dijk, Firmino and Jota boost
Liverpool have had a disappointing campaign so far, no thanks to injuries and poor performances on the pitch.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s men have received good news ahead of the game against Real Madrid after the trio of Virgil Van Dijk, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino all returned to full training.
The three players were included in Liverpool’s squad that took on Everton on Monday night, although they were named on the bench.
Still, it is good news for The Reds, who have been missing the trio since last year. Jota has been out of action since October, missing Portugal’s World Cup campaign.
Firmino and Van Dijk back for the first time this year
Meanwhile, Firmino has not played for Liverpool since November. Van Dijk, however, went off injured in Liverpool’s win over Aston Villa at the end of December.
But the three players have returned at a crucial time for Liverpool. The Champions League is Liverpool’s only hope of winning silverware this season and qualifying for the competition next season.
The Reds are currently 12 points away from a top-four place while they are also out of the FA Cup after suffering a 2-1 defeat against Brighton.
Liverpool take on Newcastle on Saturday before their clash against Real Madrid.
