Liverpool have reportedly set their path towards a new course in search of midfield targets after pulling out of the race for Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool previously had Jude Bellingham as a principal target, but have now backed out, as according to Klopp, the player is a Ferrari, hence unaffordable by them.

However, Liverpool are still expected to prioritise making additions in midfield and have not readjusted their focus to one of the midfield talents in the Premier League and a World Cup winner with Argentina, Brighton's Alexis Mac Allister.

Liverpool chase new target

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have marked 24-year-old Mac Allister as their prime target this coming summer transfer window.

The report follows a halt in Liverpool's chase of Dortmund and England star, Bellingham. Mac Allister has risen as an option instead of the England international and is said to be fancied by the Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

The German boss has not shied away from praising the midfielder in public, once crediting him along with Moises Caicedo for Brighton's successes this season.

The Argentine is viewed as a cheaper and easier attainable target for Bellingham, and Liverpool are said to be confident in acquiring the signature of the player who has 10 goals and two assists this season.

City emerge as new favourites to land Bellingham

The 19-year-old was previously set to join Liverpool, with the Merseyside giants placing him at the top of their wish list; however, they have now pulled out, and their northern rivals, City, are said to be keen.

According to Football Insider, Manchester City have emerged as the frontrunner in the race for England international Jude Bellingham.

Pep Guardiola's side are expected to face stiff competition from Real Madrid, who are also said to be keen on a move for Jude, but with the player expected to cost at least £100 million, the Premier League holders are seen as better positioned financially to make a move happen.
