Luciano Spalletti fires shot at Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis
Napoli's former boss, Luciano Spalletti, has aimed a dig at Partenopei president Aurelio de Laurentiis, comparing his previous employers to the current one.
The 64-year-old coached the Naples-based side to their first league title in 33 years but passed on the chance at defence, citing a need to take a sabbatical.
Despite the need for rest being his reason for leaving his job with Napoli, Spaletti has accepted a new job with the Azzurri.
What Spaletti said
Speaking before their European Championship qualifier game against North Macedonia, which they eventually drew 1-1, the former AS Roma boss was full of praise for the Italian football federation and compared them with his previous employer.
“We have 30 players available, and we trust all of them; there are also others," Spalletti said, per GFNI.
Then it’s the first time I’ve had a President who gives me all the ones I wanted, I’ve never had a president like that."
