Luis Rubiales: Spanish FA boss's mother locks herself in a church and goes on hunger strike for her son
The mother of Luis Rubiales, the Spanish FA president, has gone on a hunger strike to protest the treatment of her son.
Angeles Bejar has locked herself in a church as she defends her son according to a report from the BBC.
Rubiales has been on the hot seat following a case of inappropriate behaviour against him after a bizarre kiss with a Spanish Women’s footballer at the FIFAWWC.
The case against Rubiales
Rubiales has been asked to resign from his position after he kissed Jenni Hermoso during the title celebrations at the recently concluded FIFAWWC which Spain lifted for the first time.
Despite several calls and pressure, the 46-year-old has vowed to hold on to his position as the FA boss.
World football governing body, FIFA, stepped in to provisionally suspend the football administrator which has seen his mother react.
Per the report, Bejar has locked herself in a church in the Divida Pastora Motril off Southern Spain on hunger strike.
She has described the treatment of her child as ‘inhumane’ and a ‘witch hunt’.
According to another report from Daily Mail, Bejar has called for the La Roja star, Hermoso, to tell the truth.
“Bejar, a former hairdresser, has locked herself in the Divina Pastora church in Motril, east of Malaga in southern Spain, and started an 'indefinite, day and night' hunger strike until 'justice is served.'’
“Bejar demanded that Hermoso 'tell the truth' after the player insisted the kiss wasn't consensual, in contrast to Rubiales' account.”
