In what is probably the largest and most startling trade in NBA history, Doncic joins fellow former Mavs Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris at the Lakers.

The Lakers sent Davis, Max Christie, and a future first-round selection to Dallas in a three-team transaction that also featured the Utah Jazz.

Doncic was reportedly very close to making a comeback before his trade, perhaps in time for the All-Star break.

The Lakers' staff and Doncic's medical team will work together to rehabilitate, according to Pelinka, who discussed the schedule for Doncic's purple and gold debut during Tuesday's introduction press conference.

Before returning to the court, the plan calls for him to advance through five-on-five training sessions, according to Pelinka, who described Doncic's situation as "day-to-day."

Doncic comforted fans about the nature of his recuperation when they inquired about his calf strain, a problem that has plagued him throughout his career.
