Man City Fires Bartender for Wearing Man United Kit While Serving Fans During Derby
Manchester City has reportedly fired a bartender at their Etihad Stadium after he served fans while wearing a Manchester United jersey during yesterday's derby victory over their city rivals.
The story, as reported by 'The Telegraph' today, originated from a post by a City supporter who shared a photo of the bartender clearly displaying the emblem of the 20-time Premier League champions on his shirt. The publication noted that the individual was wearing a kit from the 2018/19 season.
"Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We can confirm that this individual has now been removed from their position," the club later stated, confirming the dismissal of the bartender, whose name remains undisclosed.
The derby itself ended much more favorably for Manchester City and their supporters, as the 'Citizens' decisively defeated their city rivals 3-0.
The off-field issue occurred on a day of on-field misery for Manchester United, who suffered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat.

Following the loss, manager Ruben Amorim defiantly stated that the club would have to sack him if they wanted to abandon his preferred 3-4-3 formation, which once again proved ineffective.
The team's struggles have drawn criticism from club legend Wayne Rooney, who questioned the lack of progress under Amorim. Since the manager's appointment, Man United ranks 17th in points accumulated among the 17 clubs that have remained in the Premier League during that period.
Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show, the club's all-time leading scorer expressed his concerns.
"I want to be as supportive and positive as I can be on the manager and the players, but it is very difficult to sit here and say we are seeing progression, and at least we’re seeing things that will get results in the near future," Rooney said. "We’re seeing none of that, and it is very difficult," he said.
"There was an image towards the end of the game where I saw the Manchester United fans leaving. You could hear the [City] fans singing Amorim’s name, but I think that is so powerful that the United fans were leaving the game.
"You know the game is over and I think they were very disappointed in what they were seeing. It is hard to see how it continues. What are the patterns? What are we seeing that might improve the team moving forward?"
Manchester United will be looking to right their wrongs in their match against Chelsea on Saturday, September 20, at Old Trafford.
