City could expect to receive a fee in the region of £15million for the England international, which may represent a decent return considering his contract status.
However, the club would prefer to keep him for next season and have been trying to convince him to sign a new contract.
Walker made 39 appearances for City last season in all competitions with 31 of those coming as a starter.
