Kalvin Phillips frustrated at lack of action for Man City

According to 90min, Phillips is frustrated at his lack of minutes so far for Manchester City and has seemingly decided an exit works best for both parties.

Phillips established himself as one of the Premier League’s top defensive midfielders in his time at Leeds and his sparkling form earned him a starting berth for England at the Euros.

The 27-year-old then earned himself a move to Manchester City on the back of that stellar season but it has not gone to plan.

Phillips has only managed 56 minutes of Premier League action since he arrived. In fact, his only starts have been against Bristol City and Southampton in the cup competitions.

Guardiola has said in recent months that City ‘need’ Phillips and has urged him to rise to the challenge of competing with Rodri for a place in the team.

Regardless of Guardiola’s comments, Phillips is still struggling to get any opportunities. His last appearance came against Burnley with City already 5-0 up.

Big picture for Phillips

Additionally, 90min reports that Phillips is concerned by the potential impact of his lack of action on his England chances.

It is very likely that if this situation continues, he could lose his place in the England squad for the foreseeable future.

West Ham, Newcastle, Leicester and Wolves are believed to be interested and Manchester City will not stand in the way, should the player choose to depart.
