Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is on the verge of making a return to football after spending a year out of the game following his departure from Old Trafford.
The 33-year-old, who has been without a club since the end of his Manchester United tenure, is reportedly close to sealing a deal with Fiorentina, marking his potential return to the pitch this summer.
De Gea nears Fiorentina agreement
After being out of action for a year and failing to secure a contract with any club during the last two transfer windows, De Gea is finally set to return between the sticks.
Despite attracting interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, De Gea remained without a team throughout the previous season, but recent reports indicate that the Spanish goalkeeper is nearing an agreement with Serie A side Fiorentina after weeks of negotiations.

De Gea looking for new adventure after Manchester United spell
De Gea is finally set to star for a new club after spending 12 years at Manchester United after joining from Atletico Madrid in 2011, becoming a fan favourite at Old Trafford.
The Spanish goalkeeper played 545 matches for Manchester United in all competitions, winning the Premier League in 2013, as well as the FA Cup in 2015, two EFL Cups, and two Community Shields.
De Gea will be hoping to restart his career after one dormant year and get back to competing for trophies with Fiorentina, who have played in the last two UEFA Conference League finals.
The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper will also be keen on restarting his international career with Spain under Luis de la Fuente, who already managed him at youth level.
