Mashemeji Derby to Be Played Out of Nairobi as Gor Mahia Confirm Date and Venue
Gor Mahia have finally confirmed where the Mashemeji Derby will be held following a struggle to find a suitable venue.
K’Ogalo were supposed to host AFC Leopards on May 11 but were denied their chosen venue Kasarani Stadium after CAF issued a directive against using the facility as it continues being upgraded for the 2024 African Nations Championships.
With Nyayo Stadium also out of bounds due to renovation work and Ulinzi Complex deemed small with reports also saying that they would have played without fans at the venue, Gor Mahia have decided to take the game out of Nairobi.

It is news that will excite Gor Mahia fans as Homa Bay is where the club draws its origin and will hope to beat the old enemy at the venue as they must win all their remaining three league matches to win a record-extending 22nd title.
Gor Mahia have 54 points with three matches remaining, seven behind leaders Kenya Police, who have two matches remaining, but the law enforcers can seal the league crown if they beat Shabana on June 14.
K’Ogalo and Ingwe played out a barren draw in the first Mashemeji Derby of the season at Nyayo Stadium on March 30.
